SNOWBOARDING - Learn to Snowboard, Develop your Level

Snowboarding is undeniably an exciting sport and has almost achieved cult status by teenagers and young adults around the world.

Snowboarding was inspired by surfing and skateboarding, it was developed in the United States in the 1960s and 1970s and officially received Olympic status in 1998.

Before you contemplate snowboarding, make sure you’re physically fit.

Take expert guidance/lessons from a qualified instructor to improve your skills and also learn how to fall correctly to reduce the risk of injury.

As the old adage says “Don’t run before you can walk”, many Snowboarders assume that they can just take leaps and jumps off the mountain, jumping requires essential training from a qualified instructor in order to remain safe. Believe it or not, jumps are the most common cause of spinal injuries among Snowboarders.

TELEMEARKING - Discover, Learn and Have Fun

Telemark skiing is the traditional form of skiing introduced in the 19th Century by Sondre Norheim. The main difference from Alpine skiing is that the heel of the boot is not secured to the ski. It is a unique and exciting sport as once you master the technique it not only opens you to the piste experience but also the backcountry / off piste away from the crowds.

The unrestricted heel as you go into your telemark ski turn and carve through the powder snow makes for an exhilarating experience.

As a result of new developments in telemark ski, boot and binding technology over the past 15 years, telemark skiing has been on the increase for a number of years

To ensure you maximise your Telemarking in the mountain, book a taster session or private lesson with a qualified instructor.

SKI TOURING - Off Piste Adventure, Complete Freedom

Ski touring is an experience not to be missed.

It involves walking or skinning up hill using special bindings so that you can then ski down a virgin slope that is not accessible by lifts. It is like an adventure to find the most perfect untouched mountain terrain to place your perfect powder turns on, away from the hussle and bussle of the crowds on the manicured pisted slopes.

It is called skinning because you put synthetic skins on the bottom of your skis which stop you sliding backwards. The touring bindings allow the heal to lift up while the toe stays fixed so that it is possible to slide the ski forward. When it is time to ski down the untouched mountain making fresh powder snow turns you simply peel the skins off and fix the heel down.

Ski touring is the next best thing to Heli-skiing, with the added advantage of a incredible workout to get to your untouched mountain powder turns.

Always make sure you are with a qualified off piste guide or ski instructor and ensure you have the right skis and equipment for the day. Ski touring requires an adequate level of skiing ability, ideally you should be a good intermediate or advanced piste skier.
